Once you write, it’s all about the flow, the speed and the ease. You don’t want to be bothered with anything, neither formatting nor looking for quotes or pdfs, you just want to keep on writing your thoughts down. But you still might want to insert a quote to make your point, or you’ll need to consult your notes from a month ago. Normally, this involves distraction, starting new programs, browsing some old documents.

With WriteFlow, we want to give you all the information you need at your fingertips and, even better, so fast and easy to obtain that you won’t have time to drop your thought.

WriteFlow is a program to collect and organize everything you’ll need for your academic work, so having every piece of information in the same database, interconnected, with keywords and fulltext search helps a lot. But you don’t want to search menus or open and click through new windows when, really, all you want to do is write.

The best way for fast and efficient working on your computer are shortcuts, but many people won’t bother to learn them and so we came up with something we call the Command Tool.

It’s a mixture between Quicksilver, FrontRow and Spotlight, and even though you can use alle the functions of WriteFlow in a more traditional way, we hope our users are going to enjoy the Command Tool just as much as we do.

You start the Command Tool with the only shortcut (i.e. Ctrl + Space) you’ll have to remember in WriteFlow and it brings up a list of actions you can perform. You can scroll the list to just look for the right command, or, if you already know, you just start typing. Entering “S” will bring you immediately to “Search”.

You can either use the cursor or the mouse to chose another command or confirm “Search” and bring up the next column which lets you chose what to search for.

In the beginning you will go slowly, read exactly which actions gives you which options, but soon you’ll understand that i.e. CTRL + Space + S + Return + AU + Return will allow you to search your authors database in a second.

The Command Tool goes beyond just choosing actions, but it shows you the results of a performed search, lets you enter keywords or import book references directly over the internet. It’s an incredibly fast and easy-to-use solution to support your writing flow.
